Jaswant is a new luxury shoe brand which combines multicultural influences with contemporary art and a creative approach to produce beautiful objects of desire.
Brought up in Switzerland, Jaswant Stoecklin studied Apparel Design at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design (risd) in the US. After graduating, she continued her studies in Fine Arts and Photography at Parsons School of Design in Paris. Now, following a decade of work experience in art institutions, galleries, and with a varied list of renowned designers and architects, like at the firm of Herzog & de Meuron, she has returned to fashion to realize her longterm dream of creating a shoe label.
Her approach to design follows a very diligent process to create shoes which are strong pieces, and can stand on their own in any wardrobe. The unexpected combinations of shapes and textures, as well as forms that evoke uncomplicated silhouettes, reveal the inspiration she draws from her Indian – European heritage. Also, her passion for modern art and architecture is clearly expressed through her work. Refined elegance ensues from practical forms which reflect the sculptural aspects of architectural models and create that vehicle for a woman who wants to express herself fully through her style.
